Have you ever wondered how Facebook’s newsfeed algorithm actually works? Paul Ramando over at Social Media Examiner has a thorough breakdown of the algo – as explained by Facebook’s own VP, Adam Mosseri.
He first explained that an algorithm is “a formula or set of steps for solving a particular problem.” He then presented a real-world problem to illustrate how it works; specifically, what to order his wife at a restaurant.
Aside: I’m not sure why Mosseri’s wife can’t order for herself, but we’ll just assume she’s in the ladies room when the server arrives and move on.
